[Closed] Sid race as Dirt Jump/ 4 cross forks

So its now time to build me a jumpy 4 cross bike.
Due to current budget and not being a patient bloke when faced with a new toy, I'm thinking about slapping my 2010 100mm sid race forks on as a temporary measure until I have funds for a pure dirt jump fork.
So my question has to be, will they snap or blow up in my face and ruin my day?
cheers macca

sounds like a great plan.

also you could save money on brakes by just using your face?

think id rather flop my tackle in a lion's mouth than use sids for jumping.

Depends, how good are you?

If you're riding proper dirt jumps, steep lip and landing, real smooth. never overshoot or hangup, you're good to go.

If you ride race tracks well and smooth, again no problem.

If you're not too good, ride shabby jumps, always case and land flat, no.

deanfbm, i'm very much the latter, so therefore will heed the advice of you and the others, by waiting until pay day comes around again and check myself before I wreak myself...

thanks indeed

don't underestimate the forces involved in dirt jumping.

even if you are smooth.

and if (like me) you are (ahem) less smooth... then NO. just NO.

What Dean said is spot on! Your weight matters too.

And if you do ride well enough a 20mm reba is a better purchase than a heavy overbuiltt DJ specific fork

If you do, make sure someone films it... then you can get £250 towards a set of forks!

Please don't stick teh SIDs in your new frame, put a wanted ad on here for something beefier.

Actually, thinkin about it, I'd probably do you a straight swap for your Sids if you're interested?
