Will the world stop turning if I use expired tyre sealant?
It is still perfectly liquid.
I say yes.
Thanks @codybrennan - but to which question? 😀 I would hate to use it and then for the world to stop turning.
I am tempted as want to build these wheels this evening.
I'm feeling confident, and can honestly say:
a)this sealant will do the job just fine
b)the world won't end tonight
Just give it a good shake (the bottle that is)
If it’s still sealed and not been stored/exposed to extreme elements then I’m sure it’ll be fine.
The world won't stop turning. Your wheels however... 🤔
I had a bottle of Joe's No-Flats in the garage for 11 years and it still worked perfectly.
Not sure if it's the same ingredients but why do they even need an expiry date?
Put a drip of it on the side somewhere and smear, wait a few minutes and see if it's gone tacky/rubbery and you'll answer your question
Answer is no. Post it to me and I'll try it out.
Mavic is a poor performer.
Stan's is the best and only one I trust.
Used Mavic in my commuting wheels for a few years, was as good as any other. Bit thin for MTB tyres probably, but stopped a few road punctures in seconds. Problem is it only comes in the small bottles. Although the bottles are ideal for decanting fluid through valve holes.
I've eaten food more out of date than that.
Haha thanks all for the helpful & witty replies.
I used it and it seems fine (it has been stored in a dark drawer since new and regularly 'sloshed around' when I opened and closed the drawer, so that probably accounts for keeping it nice and liquid.
I had a root around and found a much newer bottle of the same stuff in the same drawer. Should have used that. At least I have some for topping up.
