Seriously looked at these a few years ago, but didn't as I got a new Madone 4 series instead.
Anyhow, front Bonty Race has gone a little out of shape, and I don't have time to true before a ride next w/e...
Are the RS80s still rated or is there better bang for buck???
I had a pair that lasted just shy of 3 years. The front breaking surface has had it now. The rear is OK but has been been through two free hubs, two sets of bearings and numerous trips to the LBC for a true. Great wheels performance wise but IME high maintenance and the rear is poorly sealed specificity the drive side freehub/bearings. I was a bit of a lump so I don't suppose this did them any favours. They are also very flexible when sprinting out of the saddle.
In short... Keep them dry and lay off the pies and they are good.
Got Mavic Ksyrium Elite S's now and well worth the extra £ IMO. I have battered them and they are as smooth and true as the day they were purchased.
Nice wheels, but long since superseded by RS81's which are 11 speed compatible.
Not sure why you would want a non 11 speed compatible wheel now, even if you are currently not running 11 speed, if it's not forward compatible, you would need to purchase a new rear if you upgraded later.

Main problem is timing. Need the bike in good shape for next w/e's Etape Eryri.
Half an hour truing a wheel or half an hour swapping tyres and cassette over to new wheels, and checking the gears?
How badly out of true are they?
Buy new wheels if you want new wheels but buying new wheels because your old ones need truing is one of the worst excuses I've heard 😉

Dropped the wheel into shop today, for a quick true up.
Only to get a call, err the rim has split at two separate spoke eyes...
Do I read that as we've fubar'ed your wheels 😡
Now deffo need a new wheel for the Eryri
