Has anyone got any experience with the Shimano NEXUS hub/brake combo.
M'Colleague has just got himself a new bike with Shimano NEXUS hubgear and brakes.
if you hold the brakes on and rock the bike backwards and forwards you can feel play - kinda like as if the headset is too loose/shot(it's not). But if I flip the bike and play with the back wheel it feels like the play is in the hub - like there is half a degree or so of roatational play back and forwards with the brake held on.
Is this normal for a NEXUS? Is it just the way the brakes work or is something loose/flexing?
The NEXUS makes a fair amount of noise too, there is always a geary kinda crunching when you ride - is that normal? Will it calm down with use? or should it have been packed with grease or something?
All of that is normal, It's all down to the roller brakes, I wouldn't have them on a bike again.
