When Scott introduced the 120mm forks on the Spark, did they alter the geometry at all?

Don't believe so.. the extra 20mm travel did that!
You can run a 100mm travel frame with 120mm forks and you'd end up with the current steerer angle.
IMO, on 100mm forks, the bike was too twitchy.. steerer angles are much better at 120mm!

Spot on. They didn't change it, the Ltd and RC continue to use 100mm forks anyway. Interestingly Specialized are doing an Epic with a 120mm fork next year, in keeping with the 'race bike with relaxed angles' thing.
