I just had a worcester bosch 30 cdi fitted, purchased by myself at trade inc standard flue and auto diverter valve and it was INR of £1250. Not sure about how much to fit as it was a freebie, but it did take 1 1/2 days.

£2150 for Worcester Bosch 28i Junior earlier this year. Having used it I'd now go for next model up which gives control of both hot water and central heating temperatures rather than just central heating - on the 28i the hot water is "fixed" at 55C but this varies depending on the temperature of the water entering the house.

Just has a Vaillant fitted for £2200 all in. Your price sounds a touch hight for a Pemberton, tbh

Watching thread with interest as getting prices at the moment, I was told to avoid Worcester Bosch as they aren't that good these days. Vaailiant is what I'll be looking at and getting my own find someone to fit it and remove the old back boiler.

Looking at ads in paper seems to be about £1,500 for that with a Bosch.

Thats a fantastically open ended question, (the likes of how much for a new car). It really depends on the quality of boiler you want, as a rough guide they vary from around £750 to £1500. Then you have the fitting, if it is replacing a combi boiler in the same position it could be as little as half a days labour, we have paid around £250 for the labour for a simple replacment.

Would recomend Vailant and Worcester bosh.

So your price could be of £1500 could be good presuming your not getting the very chapest boiler and the instalation is realtively simple.

Strangely enough just come off of the phone to our local heating chaps as our (non combi) system needs updating.

Over the phone quote of circa £2.5k for a Worcester Bosch boiler fitting , flushing etc.

Not how I wanted to start the day but hey ho. 👿

I am also getting quotes to replace our v old boiler.
Decided to get a British Gas quote first so as the rest can only be better.

I'm looking at changing the HW cylinder to be mains pressure as well which I know will not be cheap so was expecting a high quote - but a Vaillant system boiler, tank, 3 new rads, scale filter, flush etc = £6.5k !! And that was with a 3rd off.

He reckons a combi would be 4k.

More quotes to come but after a year looking at options and talking to friends I'm going for a Vaillant.

The main problem I expect to find is finding a local chap/company whose quote is reasonable where I can trust him/them to do a proper job.
I feel sure that BG would do a top job but at one hell of a cost.

We've just had our aging boiler replaced by a new Vailant. Stripped out the old system, including hot water tank, loft tank, etc, resited the boiler with a roof flue and replaced the gas supply. All for £2650 and done in 2 days. Left the house immaculate as well.

Nick - I'm in Leamington Spa\ Warwick 🙁

Lets have some other recommendations for my area then chaps/chapesses

I know I could get a combi boiler and take out the cylinder and tanks and it would be cheaper but don't really want a combi as I like the setup of having a cylinder with immersion heater for when it breaks down - which it will.

As the BG man said to me - you want a Rolls Royce system so it'll cost....

I'm looking at changing the HW cylinder to be mains pressure

Make sure the pipework is up to this, a friend of mine did this recently and ended up with a grands worth of extra work replacing pipes that leaked under the extra pressure "happens all the time" the plumber said. After the boiler was installed.
If you have a gravity fed shower, that might need modding/replacing as well.

The independent I spoke with said that British Gas try and farm work out to them so I suspect that BG will never be best value.

Drac,

supposedly the Bosch ones that are actually made in Germany are on a par with the Vailliant ones. Not sure which models they are though.

Vaillant all the way for sensible money.

Potterton are ok, but I wouldn't have one given the choice. Currently have one here.

For a 28kw vaillant combi with flue and decent room stat, you're looking at about 1350, plus labour.

For an 18kw vaillant system boiler and unvented cylinder, think in the region of 1750.

There could be other costs involved too and labour is usually half day for a combi swap, 1-2 days for a back boiler or heat only to combi. Plus a day to fit the unvented tank.
An unvented tank can be fitted anywhere you like, just needs power for the immersion heater, wiring for the control valve and a route for the pressure release drain off

Everywhen - understood.

The BG chap mentioned this and was practical when seeing our old shower - had a number of suggestions which started with see what happens and ended up with you need to be aware of maybe needing a new shower. He also mentioned maybe needing a larger mains pipe to the cylinder.

That's the dilemma I think - BG will give you solid advice, sort it all and do a 'proper job', but, at a cost of course.

Good to see others have come to the same Vaillant conclusion.

We got a Worcester Bosch for about £2000 earlier in the year. This was installed by a friend so trust the price.

We also had a quote from BG for £3500 for a worse boiler. That's technically known as "taking the piss" so we told them to **** right off.

Bosch or Vaillent is the one to go for, really.
