Last few scalps left at 1375, torn between one of these an a canyon torque whipzone. Canyon costs more, 1800 but is better specced and lighter and looks nicer. Thuogh unfortunatley run out of red canyons... Anyone tried both or either? Really cant decide!

I've got the Torque and tbh it's pretty incredible for the money. The finish puts some much more expensives frames that I've owned to shame, and its the only off-the-peg DH bike I've seen where I've not immediately wanted to change something (strangely I would've changed some items on the more expensive models but not this one) even the tryres and bang on. The only thing on the cards at the moment is 20mm off the bars and a spacer under the stem.

Not had it long enough to talk about longevity, but it certainly seems well thought out and put together

It's quite a long bike, but so is the NP. The top tube in particular is long, but the reach is good (top tube length is null and void on DH bikes anyway)

I considered that red, but it's actually quite dull in real life, happy I went for the raw.

To be honest i think id prefer the canyon but the 500 quid saving with the scalp is hard to ignore. I would probably have to change the springs in forks and on shock but may be ok for me, thinking id need some lighter ones than what comes as stock

On the canyon i would probably want to upgrade the forks with charger damper but that would be about it i think

I imagine the scalp would be better flat out downhill and the canyon more playfull for jumps etc?

Well the way I've got mine setup it's absolutely planted. You can adjust it to be 1 degree steeper and a little higher, but it's still all about being a DH bike. It's also got the same HA and a longer wheelbase than the Scalp, so if anything the Nukeproof should be a little more nimble.

Both good bikes though, do you know if you prefer a single-pivot or a linkage bike?

Looking at the reach measurements the scalps come up quite short compared to the torque. I went for a pulse in the end which are a bit longer than the scalp, I still had to go for a large though (just under 5'10"). Don't you fancy a yt tues?

yeah i noticed that, thought the canyon would fit me better. I looked at the pulse too but in the end i bit the bullet and ordered a torque whipzone last night. I was tempted by the yt but i think the kit you get with the torque is better and there shouldnt be more than a week or two wait for the torque. Think the torque will be more playfull than the nukes or the yt too.
