The organisation I work for has two offices in central bristol. One of the receptionists from the other office just bought over a parcel for that was addressed to the office I work in. So Royal Mail had delivered a recorded signed for package to the wrong address, very odd. The offices are a 5 min walk from each other with very different addresses.
read the company name, got put in the wrong box. not weird, just incompetent.
who signed for a package with the wrong address on it....
what jam bo said;
"receptionist signs for wrong parcel wierdness"
i thought royal mails system was all based on postcode though. obviously i thought wrong! It's not a problem, still got my stuff just had the receptionist moaning about having to carry personal items over...

Is moaning in all the job descriptions where you work? 🙄
Like they said above they just read the company name and dropped it off at the wrong building.
I have been delivered things just because they were from chain reaction when they were for somebody at the other end of the industrial estate.

Is it just me that thinks that is pretty appalling service that should not be accepted from our primary mail distribution company?
If Postie can't read a simple address on a parcel whatever next?
Royal Mail is a shambles and an embarassment

Have you ever stopped to think how many deliveries there are a day and the failure rate as a percentage, i will bet its small.
I was away a couple of weekends ago, visiting my parents. When I got home I found a parcel under my doormat. It was a recorded deliver package. If it had been signed by a neighbour I would have thought they'd have kept it and the postie would have put a card through my letterbox. So it looks fairly like it was left without being signed for,
On the other hand I live in a flat where stairwell access is buzzer controlled so perhaps a neighbour left it on my doorstep after signing for it, feeling it would be safe enough there.
You'll miss em when they're gone.

I have had similar - generally I suspect they make every effort to get things to you despite the address on the enevelope - I think most people can be relied on to get names correct and mong the rest of the address.
The postie prob saw the company name and figured someone had the wrong address. I bet it happens all the time!
If you want to try it stick your name and town on a envelope and I bet 9 times out of 10 it makes its way to you.
I think it's down to wether your particular postie is prepared to go the extra mile , programmes like 'Despatches' will never show the efficient side as it just doesn't make good telly.
I get 2 or 3 items daily that are addressed to either the wrong house number or even the wrong street but having been on the same round for 12 years am on first name terms with most of my customers so can put things right.
I once went to a TNT depot to pick up a parcel; the chap pointed to where it said "Citilink" on the delivery note and sent me away slightly embarrassed...
The force of habit is a powerful thing.

I can only speak for the number of deliveries made to myself and the number of deliveries I would class as a failure (by that I mean delivered to one of my neighbours instead, thrown over the gate, left on the doorstep, left without a signature and even on occasion left inside the wheely bin!) and that is unacceptably (IMO) high
we had a 'while you were out card through the door today'.
There were four of us in the house at the time, I heard the post come through the door and, if I'd turned my head whilst sat at my desk, would have made eye contact with the postman.
He wasn't our usual chapand I think he fills all the forms out beforehand and leaves the parcels in his car and just carries the cards around with him.

I've had that. Seen the card come through the letterbox, opened the door, and confronted the postie. He told me that due to staff shortages, parcel deliveries were all being treated like this, as it at least meant they could deliver the letters. Parcels require a van and driver, and apparently the shortages (due to staff cuts in the local depot I was told) meant that there weren't enough drivers to get all the post out. The postie told me that they relied on the fact that most people are out during the day anyway, so it wouldn't make much difference to all but a very few people like myself. 🙁
So the sender is due a partial refund as the service which is paid for is to your door. Or you're due a refund for the cost of getting to the sorting office to pick your parcel up which they've made no attempt to deliver. Luckily, my postie is spot on.
