As my rear wheel (Roval Control SL) was bent by a deer/bike interface on Saturday night, I think I need a new rim. The rim has a wobble of about 25mm and there's a couple of quite loose spokes. Should I straighten the rim (it isn't kinked, just has a wobble on) and then retension all the spokes (I am far from an expert here), (this is the cheap option) or should I get a new rim, spokes etc and get the wheel rebuilt?
Any ideas on where to get a rim/spokes (they are DT aerolite I think) and how much it all might cost?
For the past 2 years the Dusk til Dawn seems to have cost me about £30/lap!
Specialized is your only source, suspect they'll just offer a subsidised 'crash replacement' wheel.
The spokes were Aerolites on the older ones, but are Revs on the newer ones (with red freehub body) IIRC.
You could try and get hold of another 28h rim, but IME (from a similar incident!) straight pull spokes are virtually impossible to come by, and a new rear wheel is the cheapest bet!
do you want to buy a set for use or spares? i'm too heavy for mine!

I know Duncan Cruxton is the guy you need to speak to at Specialized UK.
Duncan's number at Specialised HQ is 02083913500. He will sort you out and I'm sure they do a crash replacement so will work out slightly cheaper.
Cheers all, I might go for a 2nd hand set as that is a little cheaper than a crash replacement rear wheel. I'll have a go at straightening the old wheel as I've nothing to lose, and see how that goes.
