We had to risk assess the course, so we rode it and assessed it!
I rode it 36:18 on a 26er, it was tuff in places and not so tuff in others, all climbs and descents are walkable!
Theres bits for mincer and bits for attentionwhores. The main hazard was updoc, it was everywhere ;-(

I suppose that means no superman riding positions too.

Is SS now part of the UCI?

Actually you wrote:
"me and my mate will cum on our CX bikes"

And I was supposed to take that seriously?

i've no mail in my in box - please check your records for my new email address: martindddde AT googlemail DOT com - i did email you when it changed

it would be a shame not to be entitled to ride, i've been really looking forwards to it, i've rechecked the original announcement and it doesn't specify MTB anywhere, its all off road bicycles, 29er is 700c just fatter tyres innit, i was just hoping for a fun weekend of riding SS with other enthusiasts, it would be a shame to be barred, any particular reason?

he'll be saying you can't drink your own booze in the beer tent next

even the blazer wearers are more relaxed:

2.0 THE BICYCLE
2.0.1 BC in no way wishes to stifle the natural
evolution of the mountain bike in any
recognised discipline. To this end there is
only one requirement; that the bicycle is
solely human powered. Any bicycle used
in competition must be capable of safely
and efficiently completing the task and
must, as a minimum, be mechanically
sound, have efficient brakes on all wheels
and all reasonable steps must be taken to
ensure the safety of the rider and others.
As part of the latter, bar plugs are
compulsory.
2.0.2 If, in the opinion of a scrutineer and/or
commissaire, a bicycle fails to meet the
above criteria the rider must take
immediate steps to ensure the necessary
steps are taken to remedy the
shortcomings and ensure the
Scrutineer/Commissaires requests are
met. Failure to do so will result in
exclusion from the competition.
2.0.3 All bikes must use a wheel at the front and
the back which is no larger than 29” in
diameter.
2.0.4 For Four Cross an effective rear brake is
required

updoc
buy updoc mugs, tshirts and magnets
Similar to updog but more child-friendly and universally applicable. Updoc was made popular particularly in the 1940s-60s through its endorsement by Warner Brothers.
Popular catchphrase: What's updoc?

??

no bombs, just booze, don't want to pay to drink the local rubbish

all climbs and descents are walkable!

that's ok then I'll bring my walking boots and some nice red socks and a bobble hat as I'm a total mincer on hills. It'll be nice to push the singlespeed around a different part of the country.

Ayatollahofniche....

Sorry if this has been covered but how long is the course and how many laps are we expected to do?

Its a single speed event so I would surmise:

1.long enough to make sure that the start and the finish meet up (small loop round a beer tent then)

2. until you get dizzy from either going round too fast or a beer overdose

It will be a number of miles with a few hundred meters of climbing. Number of laps tbd but take enough drink, food water to last until 15:00 and a bivi bag will come in handy when you get lost.

There really is more ascent than descent on the course, just to make it a bit more interesting like 😀

Conditions under tyre are dry, very dry... except for the muddy bits, that is 8)

I found the climbing easy while being towed by your Landy. 😆

It'll take more than a Landy to tow you up the course!

It did appear to make the climbs more manageable, but it's a good job there are no left hand bends on the course...
