Anyone got recent experience of Bob Jackson frames? Looking at the Olympus Road as a possible replacement for my old Equilibrium. Most of the feedback on the roadie forums seems to be from folk that bought one 20 years ago and still using them for Audax now. Service and response to my queries so far has been good, the price is right, just want to know how they ride!
Whats wrong with the Genesis exactly?
Nothing wrong, want something fancier.
Take a look at Woodrup frames, same city but I think they are a bit nicer and more forward looking.
I'd love a Feather cycles frame but they aren't cheap!
Every keen cyclist should have a custom made frame done at some point.
I bought an Olympus Road earlier this year. It rides beautifully, and looks very nice but it weighs rather a lot! I have the 853 version, in a 21.5" frame (so pretty small) and the frame alone weighs 2.1kg. I have Columbus Tusk forks, which weigh 0.5kg, so all up frame and fork weight is about 2.6kg.
I also had to send it back as the seat post didn't fit. Bob Jackson re-reamed it and sent it back, and to be fair to them, the seatposts they had did fit, and I had to sand the paint of the seatpost I have to get it to fit.
If I was to buy again, I'd probably get a Condor Acciaio. Or wait for the 2014 Super Acciaio.
Thanks Nerd, I'm not bothered about a racing featherweight but that does sound a bit chunky. As for the Super Acciaio, it looks like a lovely bike but I'm not after anything quite that racy.
Hey Robdob, just following up on your comment on Woodrup. Do you have any first hand experience? They look interesting and have a relatively short waiting list, but I can't find anyone with recent experience of their frames.
