Having a hard time removing the front mech cable from an Ultegra 6500(?) STI. Cable's cut back, shifter clicked down and when I pull the brake lever I can see the inner end of the cable sitting inside the shifter, but I can't push it out. Its sitting flush with its housing, so I can't grab it with anything to try and pull it instead.
I've squirted some silkopen on it to try and get things moving, but in the meantime does anyone have any handy hints for getting the cable out?

Youse are useless!
Squirt of Silkopen, wait a bit, poke out some grit with a needle, gentle wiggling, out it came!
Messing with my road bike makes me nervous.
