do your brakes squeal in the muddy/wet conditions? you know when you ride through big fooook off puddles, or even snow or deep wet mud etc??? i see all these wintery pics of people and all i can think is 'i wonder if there brakes squeal after they have gone through that' hahah....quite sad i know, mine seem to do it, and then i almost deafen someone until a bit later when the its got rid of the water etc on the rotor......perfectly fine in the dry no noise at all (roll on summer)....just wondered what with all these wet/muddy/snowy/wintery rides at the mo....i cant believe its just mine that do it, im really intruiged to know if some of you have completely silent brakes regardless of weather ๐Ÿ™‚

I sometimes get a squeak until I get some heat back into the pads/rotors. In the last couple of days, with the temps getting into minus figures, the squeak has been more of a honk. I have organic factory pads in Hope Tech V2 (f) and M4 (r) on both bikes.

ahh never thought about the colder weather having a slight play in it, i guess the air is a bit 'moist' etc what with the cold air.....and what with it being colder it would take longer to heat up/clear the noise....

still all you guys please respond who have been out in the snow conditions????

My new SLX's squealed a bit on their first ride yesterday, but then they got rather warm after I a bit lairy on one of the downs as I went round the outside of my mate kinda back end all hanging out and realised there was a wall in the way!!

Cue rather large slam on of brakes and massive diversion right across the trail he hee.

Stopped squealing after that.

good way to put them to there first test bud! i dont really think there is that much hard braking to be done round my parts either, which means they probably dont heat up that much...it sometimes comes back on its own after its cleared without going through puddles again etc, which baffles me, as once its cured the noise surely if it doesnt get wet/muddy again it shouldnt come back, or as said above it could be the moisture in the air as its that cold/damp where i ride alot....it is completely silent in dry weather though....

still i expect if i went out in snow etc it would squeal like a pig! or more like a howl like the guy above said....i know that brakes are ok and its not so much a technical issue as such as its silent in the dry....

any more people willing to offer there braking noises to me throughout the last snowy period ๐Ÿ™‚ much appreciated to hear them ๐Ÿ™‚
