Getting a road bike for winter miles and bothe these MTB brands have bikes within budget, anyone better than the other? anyone got one? Any issues??
I havent been on a road bike for 21yrs!
A mate has the GT 4 - he was never going to buy a road bike or ride on road, so I guess that is a recommendation!
cheers swadey
if its 2011 get the speedster S55 it comes with mudguards for the same price.
I have a Scott Speedster S50 that I have had for a couple of years and it has been fine. I bought it as a commuter and have done about 8k kms on it with no real dramas. I had to buy a new rear wheel as the roads kept putting it out of true so I needed something stronger but apart from that I have changed nothing.

iTS 2010 DEALS, both around the 500-550 mark
fair enough. Id get the cheapest then, cant imagine that much between them. the only issue for winter riding is that they wont take proper mudguards.
gt has eyelets but was thinking about fitting crud mkII's - are they not any good?
