I just built a bike up with saw tooth 160 rotors (that happened to be on the wheels I was using) on BB7 road calipers.

Terrible.

They seem to rub all the time and the brake levers go to the bar with very little braking effect.

I'm hoping changing to the supplied rotors and bedding the pads in will help.

Apart from that, anyone got any setup tips?

I'm running the standard Avid rotors which come with BB7s on my road bike (not the Roundagon ones they used to supply).

No complaints over 6 months of use - when set up well they have enough stopping power.

you need to try better quality cables, ie jagwite low compression cables.
Improved the braking on my roadrat (with bb7) by 100%

I use XTR rotors on my Amazon. There's a wee issue with the central spider clipping the pad removal tab, but that's soon sorted with a pair of snips.

thought that was why BB7s got popular in the first place - no boiling oil on long descents so the only worry is to use decent pads and bed them in properly.

I think his problem was he cooked the disks and pads, not boiled his oil...

I found that this method of aligning the pads worked well for maximum power in my initial setup.

Pixelmix - thanks. That seems to make sense.

I didn't think he actually said what the problem was, although the article mentioned boiling oil as one of the potential problems.
