Anyone care to suggest the best width of Velox rim tape to use with a 717 disk rim?
I think I used 19mm on mine...
(yes - quick check on ebay history confirms velox 19mm)
I have those, and insulation tape seems fine to me?!
my new wheels (XT, XC717) have the 17mm on them, looks wide enough.
Hmm - Evans do 16 or 22...
Insulation tape works fine for me too but 19mm Velox is the one if you want 'proper' stuff.
22mm will be too big (I know, I have 2 rolls on my kitchen floor)
I think in some places Velox is described just as MTB or Road with no sizing info (22 or the 16 I guess). That's how I opted for MTB and ended up with 22mm.
I'd imagine 16 would be ok... but I hunted for 19mm to get proper wall-to-wall coverage.
EDIT - I sourced my 19mm from DHCyclesport btw.
They do it is a significant range of sizes - 10, 13, 17, 19, 22. Might have to go to Condor. The annoying thing is is it for some scrummy new wheels from Merlin and they don't list decent rim tapes at all....
