Have two bikes, one SS with avid bb7 and the other 1x10 with latest slx, both rigid. Both brakes work great but thinking of replacing slx with bb7 on the geared bike. Am I crazy?

convenience, need to stock only one type of pads
easy(er) to work at home
like the mechanical simplicity

If you want to do it, can do it and have a reason to do it why bother asking? Just do it.

Stocking one set of pads etc. makes perfect sense to me, but given the price of SLX brakes I'd be going hydraulic personally. But if you really prefer the BB7s, why not?

Id be putting some m615 or slx on the other bike and get it all hydraulic, far better to get away from metal cables.

I always assumed they must be alright because Jeff Jones liked them. The day I fell out with BB7s in a big way, I was crouching sorrowfully in a ditch in Surrey trying to make the inboard pad adjuster wheel move with frozen hands and asking "does this happen to Jeff Jones?"...

🙂

Mr dummy, the trick there young man is to adjust your bike before a ride, ive never had my pads wear so much in a ride that ive had to do a mid ride pad adjust

Mind you having said that ive got really pimpy brakes on my niche bikes, but I am a massive bike diva and love a bit of bling
