Living in North Norfolk, there isn't a great deal of true mountain biking, so most routes are a mix of bridleways, by-ways and quiet road sections, ridden a number of cheaper "gravel" bikes and CX bikes over the years and been the right tool for the job, so after loads of double-time at work (advantage of working for an insurers after a period of snow) i thought i'd treat myself to a new frame and forks, was aiming for the Mason Bokeh until this caught my eye, really lovely build quality, plus new Ultegra is ace as are the Hope RX calipers.

That does look stunning SCUD. What sort of weight is it? What do you think of the Hope RX4 Calipers over Shimano?

Nice build! They are very lovely indeed 🙂 Also looked at Mason/Tripsters/Rondo, but after popping in to see Mark (top bloke!) at his workshop and a lot of umming and ahhing finally took the plunge in March. Has been at home on epic road days, chunks of the SDW where I’d normally take the Stooge and the DR200 - me legs are definitely the limiting factor 😉

A build with 1x force and fairly burly wheels/wtb resolutes comes in at about 9.3kg. Thinking of trying  650b/road plus for the summer, though those Hunts do look mint!

Lovely looking bike that. (Explains why insurance premiums are so high 😉)

Hope you're enjoying the Peregrine too.

@manmurray - I'm thinking about taking the plunge too but I'd like to figure out the total build weight before I do. The Mark has been super helpful, I did a demo ride and loved it, but he won't answer the frame weight question for some reason. I forget if I'm a medium or large but any weight info much appreciated.

I have the 57 and it’s not crazy light (Ultegra and hope RS4 build) but I don’t think you buy these kind of bikes for the lightness. They ride lovely. I also have some 650b Hope xc wheels that work nicely 🙂

@jimbopenguin Mine weighed 8.2kg as a road bike with Hunt wheels and tubeless G-One 30c tyres, carbo EC90 seatpost and handlerbars, or 8.7kg with Crest wheels, tubeless WTB Riddlers and alloy Ritchey Venturemax bars.

I wasn't too fussed about bike weight as it was bought for Torino-Nice rally and was going to be covered in bike bags anyway. But i ride it with it's road wheels over my carbon Specialized Roubaix if i do road events as it much nicer. (plus it was brilliant on Torino-Nice, i gave it some real punishment and it was fine)

@scud

any chance of a pic showing the fork / clearance with the 30C tyres?

Hi @cosmokramer.

I have happily run 700X45c WTB Riddler tyres in there with clearance left and they will take 650x 47-50c.

Only photo i have really to hand is the one above near top, that is with 700x 40c Nano's which i like in the winter.

OK no worries @scud

I was actually wondering whether the fork clearance would look a bit too massive with 30's but if that picture above is with 40s it should be OK

Is yours the standard Reilly fork?

Hi.

Yep it is the standard Reilly fork yes.

I ride it with 30c G-One road tyres and it looks fine i think.

Scud - damn that's pretty light! Clearly not considering a Ti bike to be ultralight but just trying to check that I can get somewhere around 9 or ideally a bit less so that when in road mode and no bikepacking kit onboard it feels alive. My CAADX isn't a featherweight but with road wheels/tyres on it's decent enough on tarmac.

A few posts now with people saying that their carbon roadies are collecting a bit of dust because their Gradient gets the nod more often than not - that's a good sign!

@Scud - i've just been reading about Torrino - Nice. Looks incredible - would you do it again? I'm up for it if it's running in 2019.
