A lot of money for a pair of shorts but I like the look of them and its my birthday next month and the good lady is going to treat me.
If you've got some what do you think of them?
To be honest I'm not interested in anyones views on Rapha or their prices just are the shorts any good or not. 😉
thanks
i had a pair, they were good but not £105 good.
Are these things only suitable for riding 'fixed'? Wow!
I suspect that any question about Rapha will always come to to their price, I'm afraid.
Indeed CFH, but we know the price of their gear as its on their site, what I want to know is how are they shorts made in terms of quality, fit, feel etc....
They feel lovely, and look good on other people.
Condor is my lunchtime shop, and I have often touched them. 🙂
i usually wear mine every day for the commute. after i think about 9 months of use there isn't a blemish on them
I use them as my "round town" shorts, or any time I don't fancy getting lycra'd-up for a ride in the country (stops me feeling too much of a twonk in the pub at my mid-ride rehydration stop 😉 ).
They're nice and comfy (a little bit of stretch helps here), albeit a tad warm at times (usually paired with Polaris padded undies). They're also quite water-resistant, but I wouldn't like to ride far in the rain wearing them - they were fine for 28 miles on Islay in August, but much further and I think they'd have been getting a bit clingy. 😯
Oh, and I wear them fixed or geared - the Rapha Fashion Police haven't caught up with me yet... 8)
I have a pair in small but they're too big for me (from the Rapha sale, no opportunity to try them on first) - never worn apart from trying them on, still with labels I think. Never got round to eBaying them - anyone interested (I'm a 30" waist, they'd very definitely be OK for 32)?
i've got some and they are great...but for me they size up small. i'm a 30" waist but i have 32" rapha. but they have a great returns service
Was the sample sale any good? I turned up and there was a massive queue so couldn't be arsed.
Are the discounts very much?
In that case, perhaps mine were in the sale because they were mislabelled! Yes, good discount - I can't remember how much I paid (it was last year not this), but it feels like close to half price.
*puts hand up
I held off for about a year before buying some... I'm wearing them now actually.
As said above, really nice quality. They feel much better on the bike than off.
I have black and they pick up dirt quite easily so tend to always look a bit less than perfect.
I was a bit disappointed to see the Made in China label hidden inside. I can't say I am surprised though.
Ha ha ha ha ha.
All the times you've ripped the p1ss out of me for wearing Rapha.
You're going to get it now mate.
I've had a pair for about 5 years now and they have to be one of my favourite pieces of cycling clothing (along with a Rapha softshell!).
Despite 5 years of almost constant use, they still look great, they even survived a 25mph tarmac slide looking considerably better than my lower leg!
As others have said they can be a little warm (not a problem in Scotland) and I've found they do repel water reasonably well - fine for showers at least.

Thats because yours is all fake Stu. 😉
Thanks for the feedback on the shorts guys

What like your bikes you mean. 😛
The Rapha Fixed shorts are clearly for wannabe hipster urban fools that have been taken in by Rapha's vaguely homoerotic, mise en scene marketing. They are good for gayers and chumps and probably both. I have a pair. They have not made me cool or a riding god, in fact not even a minor deity although I do look a little fey.
They are good for popping into town to pick up some aspirational bread but I wouldn't want to use them for long rides or offroad. Quality is high and they do seem to stand the test of time but the sizing, as above, can be a little idiosyncratic and you do need them to be a proper fit. Only real issue is the price although that's not a problem if someone is buying them for you.
Had a pair for just under 2 years, used on my commute, 'round town' when meeting friends etc and off road on shorter local woods ride. Fit is tailored but comfy, so folk that like to believe 'they have a 32 inch waist', best be sure before buying. Still look great, the outer stitching on the inside leg did come undone (about an inch of it) carried on riding them without a problem as the seams are double stitched. Finally sent them back to rapha about 2 months ago, who returned them fully repaired free of charge. I never ridden a fixed bike, and have no desire to (they don't seem to be a big thing in Derby), but I have a couple of rapha bits and just liked the look of 'em. If you have the cash, why not.
Thanks Big Ted but it would take more than a pair of shorts to turn your trail skills into a godlike trail hero 😉
Yeah, but they do allow me to ponce in a boutique with the best of them
Mine did not seem to like Cannock Mud 😮
Ive commuted mine for 2y and they still look good
I dont off road them and I dont seriously roadie them
For popping into town for an expresso they are great 😛
And you can also walk aound work in them without everyone seeing how big/small your cock is
I love mine
They are well thought out for cycling but when you arrive and get off the bike are actually ok unlike most other bike shorts/trousers
Thank you!
try some swobo j macs, theyre the bees knees
