There is resistance to free-spinning when I tighten the drive side nut - I've got a 68mm bb shell, a 2.5mm spacer in the non-drive side and 2x2.5mm spacers in the drive side. It's obviously tightening against something it shouldn't be...

any ideas?

If it's a cyclocross chainset then surely you shouldn't be running any bb spacers?

The instructions appeared to indicate i needed them...I assume from that last comment that I should I remove them altogether?

Well road/cross chainsets are designed to run on 68mm bb shells, not 68 or 73mm shells like mtb chainsets so shouldn't need spacers? I'm not familiar with your chainset so it may be different?

Have just found some Cadence instructions on the web and the only mention of spacers appears to be the spindle spacers used to adjust chainline, not bb shell spacers...

Yeah - I've just seen those thanks Simon - these are different to the instructions that came with the chainset; very strange.
