On Sunday I was heading down the bridleway crossing Heath Common between Heath village and the main road and was chased by a large black German Shepard and a number of smaller terriers, they were all loose at the side of the trail. The black GS followed for 100 yd or more before backing off. I spoke to other cyclists later who had also been chased by the same dogs.
I have reported this to Wakefield council and had a response from their Dog Warden. He has visited the property with the dogs and spoken to the owners, who he said were receptive to the advice to control the dogs.
He said they will monitor the situation and any further reports may result in enforcement actions.
If anyone else has the fun experience of trying to outrun the large black GS, please report it so the Dog Warden is aware.
