My bike is getting progressively shonkier.

The left pedal fell off it's shaft the other day, so i screwed it back on nad forgot about it.

I was about to lob the bike in the car and go for a ride when i thought to check the insides of the pedal.

Result, 959 spd..mashed up shaft, including snapped end of thread and pinch bolt, a few bearing halves and other shards of metal..

Rebuilt and serviced an old 520 spd and it's good to go.

My full spec is.

non matching pedals.

Non matching tyres

Non matching brakes with a non matching caliper/rotor.

red ano headset, blue ano set post.

budget seat

dinged rear rim and missing one spoke.

very old ST BB with mega heavy crankset.

gripless grips.

Rounded off bolt up rear axle.

It works... goes forwards, stops and sometimes it grips and goes boing at the front.

So who else has a perfectly working shonk machine that their proud to ride?

And who has a well spec'd nice bike that continuously annoys them?

I'm just a passenger.

You don't think i purposely make the bike do those silly things, do you?

I was riding with a guy at the weekend on some extremely severe Cairngorm terrain and he had a shonked up Inbred. Sounds very similar but his had no front brake at all.
I have to say, I was very very impressed he made it down in one piece...

Rickos you should know by now brakes aren't really my priority.

However i've a good grip so make the front brake work thus...

No idea !
I'm ok, apart from "Old Mans Back"...
Bumped into "Old Fart" yest.pm on the Tox, during a 'dodgey' early finish from work !
The Crip's gonna get a new hip soon, to go with his titanium leg,
Madds is off to Arbroath next month, then back to "Sunny Helmand Province" in the New Year, poor sod !!!
"Ponty Pandy" the sheep shagger has just about recovered from his Trans Rockies epic with GAARREEEE !
Gonna try and sort the bunch out for the "chipps" ride in Dec. but can't tie the bu**ers down at the mo !
Mostly me and Matt at the mo, Let us know whats going on with w/end and eve rides..
Catch ewe soon then "fatboy"... 😛

I saw OF on the drove yesterday, though i was without the bike as i was working..sort of.

Chipps ride is meant to be a low key event to try to keep numbers down, but of course i can't see a problem with having a few more Quantock relics come along 😉

I've a few worthy bodges on my PA.

Forks - Frankenfork half 04 z1 and half 03 dirtjumper (broken bits of two forks combined)
Cranks - Middleburns with stripped threads that need hammered off the BB. No ramps on the rings either and the wrong length BB.
Tyres - The sidewalls consist mainly of duct tape now.
Post clamp - Wrong size stretched to fit.
Seat Post - Substantially thinner at the bottom than the top now.
Front Mech - Wrong size shimmed with inner tube. Broken cage held together with a zip tie.
Bars - Off and old trials bike but awesome at 760mm.

That said the bodges are slowly being phased out.
