don't know yet big bloke - but it will be hope or edale valley somewhere.

I'm trying to plan a 'robust' route so we don't chew everything up too much.

Maybe not along Rushup edge - t'was proper 'peat bog monster' grabbing front wheel along the top. However the rocky sucken road was fantastic, even when covered in red socks.

Just got nervous... ๐Ÿ˜ Are red socks code for something evil and scarey!?

Is Derbyshire even still there? I saw, what looked like, large parts of it floating down the Don earlier.

Still here, a little bit moist in parts, suggest fitting cleats to wellies if this keeps up!

Yep, likes jukes says, the people at the back are the people who these rides are for. I've been at the back of a ride before and made to feel like scum. I hated it.
I set up these rides to make people feel good about riding, to allow them to enjoy the views, the banter, the descents, and the biking regardless of fitness or skill. If they get better through the poodles, great!

Nobody on a pootle will ever

1) feel unwelcome
2) be left behind
3) not be allowed to buy a pint. ;o)

Looking forward to welcoming lots of new folks along!

No-one could ever spend too much time with Mark! He's Mr lovely!

And tell me the etiquette with 'cake', I believe it's welcomed but are a few regulars responsible? Dread to think about standing on someone's toes!!

everyone who wants to bring cake can bring cake. There's certainly no expectation but it is always welcomed!

Mrs pook (if persuaded) may bake.

looking like a typical EDALE start guys.

Evening all. Just driven back through Hathersage this evening and there are road closure notices for the 14th for the main road. Am guessing it's their carnival so best avoided if driving out to the valley from Sheff.

There's a few options. A57 and left to Bamford then right at Sickleholme and you are past Hathersage.
Leaving up Ecclesall Rd head for Ringinglow and turn right in front of Stanage Edge, right again as it drops down, right again at v junction then left at junction on road to Sickleholme just down from Yorkshire Bridge. Or head down through Curbar Gap then up through Calvert and Ben Eyam, Foolow, Bradwell, Brought and left to Hope.
Hope that helps.

Its a bake off

I dont think anyone actually cares

Some of us always bring cakes and some dont the more the merrier

TBH I bring mine because i am vegan and it is the only way I will get any cake ..I usually bring a choice so one is not enough ๐Ÿ˜‰

Any chance I can dump a change of clothes in someone's car while we pootle? Train drivers get angry when I leave bum shaped puddles of mud on their floor/seats.

Car park is pay and display, and it's not cheap: edale, as the start of the pennine way, is a bit of a walker's honeypot. there's "free" parking at the western end of the valley, on the sides of the road toward jacob's ladder. However it gets popular and you'll have to ride down to join the group

I wonder how much it would cost to get a single ticket from edale to the next station, then you could park in the edale station carpark?

Or park in Hope (free) then grab a single to Edale.

aye it'll be a good crack. For those who've pootled before it will be one of the regular loops. I've got one in mind that's a bit more suitable when it's been raining.

Ordered the new bike on Saturday, just a pity it's unlikely to arrive before the weekend and no sign of a buyer for the old bike yet!!! Legs are feeling surprisingly good after my ironman so it's looking likely that I'll make it!

Do oyou want me to do some baking?? Brownies and banana loaf are my speciality!

fingers crossed for good weather folks. I'm not looking a long range forecasts, but either way the riding will be good.....

As always; the pace is social, and we'll get beer or two after.

And cake. Lots of cake.

It looks like there'll be a few newbies this time so let's all play nice!
