What's your choice?

On_one are doing the 971's for a tenner, which although is good, the 991's you can pick up for 20 when on offer...?

KMC last longer

No performance difference between the 971 and 991 though, maybe a few grammes but that's it.

For £9.99 each, it is indeed cheaper than trade price for sure.

What's meant to be the spec difference between the two?

971 outer plates are chromed. 991 inner and outer plates are chromed IIRC. KMC still last longer. Cheap chains a false economy if causes Cassette to wear prematurely

No. SRAM 991's are bright nickel coated.

If its a choice between the 2 Sram then get the 971 ,once its covered in oil and mud it wont make any difference.

Although my money goes to KMC ,not much difference in shift quality but found the Sram ones seem to rust quicker and stretch sooner.

Neverr tried a KMC. The Shimano's seem to last a few months at best.

Which KMC would you recommend?

KMC X9.93 are great - rust free, long lasting, excellent shifting.
