Would I see a performance increase using folding Gravel King 43mm on road versus wire beaded Nano 40?

Nano is 550g, Panaracer is 495g but a bit bobbly whilst the nano has a centre strip

Are you mixing up Gravel King and Gravel King SK (small knob)?

Are you thinking about a dedicated pair of road tyres, or do you need something capable of some off-road too?

How wide can you go in the intended bike?

What's the internal rim width of the bike's wheel?

I've gone all "marginal gains" on my Wazoo's 29er wheelset (~20mm internal rim width) recently, making use of tyres I already had...
25mm Grand Sport Race (measure ~27mm wide) up front with latex tube @85PSI (after inflating each morning before use!)
28mm Grand Sport Race (~31mm wide) at rear with butyl tube @85PSI

Seeing some segment improvements even without wind assistance. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The answer you are looking for is Schwalbe G-One.

^^^

In the dry, even at 29x2.35 size, they are great all-rounders.

But they wear quickly at lower pressures on tarmac, my set got a few punctures over a few weeks last summer IIRC on my commute, while my Marathon Cross and Grand Sport Race have done more commutes and never let me down.

Basically, I have an Arkose X 2018 which came with Nano 40's in a wire bead. Clearance is good up to 45mm I think.ย  The bike hadn't been used by the previous owner so the tyres obvs don't need replacing yet. I've done 200 miles on it and they seem absolutely fine on road and fine off it but I've nothing to compare them with as its my first gravel bike. I guess they just feel heavy but part of that may be psychological as I know they are wire.

I use the bike for 50/50 on and off road but like to go as fast as possible.

Saw some Panaracer Gravel King TLC 43mm in Merlin for 28 quid and thought they would perhaps give me a bit more speed? Also they are tan wall and we all know that makes a bike 10% faster from the get go

If you have a wire bead tyre, it has a heavier construction / higher rolling resistance so particularly going for any tubeless setup will provide lower rolling resistance. I have 45mm Riddlers on one bike and whilst out riding with a mate and rolling downhill on a typical country road I was no slower than his 30mm tubeless tyres.
