I'm looking to replace our feeble back yard lamp.
Need a waterproof, wall mounted lamp with enough power to make working on bikes a possibility.

We already have a 240v feed to the current one, so I'll probably use that.

I might use two to reduce harsh shadows.

Has anyone any experience of Chinese 30W LED units that are all over ebay for £40ish?
e.g. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120891423647

Or other recommendations?

Why spend £30 when a £5 120w halogen unit will probably do the same job?

BTW electrician told us you'd need a separate feed for a 500W unit, but a 120W (which light up our back garden nicely) will work fine off a lighting spur

z1ppy - well that is cheap. 1.6p/hour vs 0.4p to run would take a long time to recover the £35 difference.

I like the idea of it being a 'no brainer' to put on though.

Ro5ey - it's not just for that - kids playing, gardening, eating outside etc are all things it would be useful for.

Looks like the theoretical output from that 120w halogen is 2250 Lumens - roughly the same as the LED.
