currently have GB OS 1:50k on my Edge 800. have downloaded the OSM i want and the file has the same name as the OS map file.

can i put OSM maps on there, too? then somehow switch between them when i want to. or am i only able to have one or the other?

I'm not sure about the Edge but I have multiple maps on my Oregon. I don't think it matters what the map file is called. I'm guessing both are currently gmapsupp.img?

You can put multiple maps on but I have only ever done it using Basecamp. Afaik if you just dump the file with the same name on the device you will overwrite the existing file which isn't what you want

you can have both on an edge. Just change the name of the file your adding to the device , then select map by pressing down on your joystick when in the nav page and selecting which maps you want presented to you.

i have os and OSM . and i also have one or two custom maps with only the area i am riding in so that the unit moves redraws quicker.

tbh i NEVER use the OSM the only reason i can see to use them is if your too cheap to buy the OS maps =- but since you already have them then thats not an issue 😉 . In my local area the OSM are frequently missing even heavy traffic paths and have other paths in places where paths dont actually exist - the joys of Open source and people with shit GPS adding stuff i guess.
