So you're only allowed one bike for the rest of your life - what will it be?

Can be any bike in the world.

A cyclocross bike - for everything? A big dh bike, cause all you care about are the downs? A bmx, cause they're just so much fun? Or maybe just a commuter, because they're so practical? Or maybe even a road bike, because uhhh.. they're really fast..?

Could you even live with just one bike? Or are you already doing it?

One bike? you're a f***in' weirdo for even suggesting it! 😀
(but if it had to be - a top end roadbike I'm afraid!)

456.

It can be re-welded/bodged if it snaps.
Has rack mounts for touring ect...
Goes well on the rough stuff.
Cheap.

Hardtail. Alloy or steel - I don't mind. rack mounts and ebb. Hub gears. Zocchi open bath fork.

I'm quite happy with what I've got. Maybe some spare 36s for alps and the like?

My sliding dropout inbred. Has been run as a singlespeed but can easily be run with gears, disc of v-brakes, saddle up=comfy xc and saddle down=chuckable. A bike I could do anything on.

I just find my coiler a LOT of fun...

Cove Stiffee, with dual air Revs, dual ring, proII/Flows, that kind of setup.
Got a Stiffee with single ring, pikes, proII/flows as my only bike at the moment.

+1 for 456
It's my only bike.. it's all I need or want
although a lottery win would possibly change my philosophy

itd be a steel hardtail that takes 80-120 mm fork so you can swap out forks. rigid in winter, uturn (reba?) in summer kinda thing.
then....
a set of 700c disk wheels with 32c cross tyres for a cx bike with a set of 26 with 2.2 knobblies for mtb

need to have obviously matching rotors/watch cassete chain wear on wheelsets and of course a second crown race on the 2nd fork

even better if you have adjustable dropouts like inbreds/explosivesso you have the ss option...but defo make sure you get the right size! or the whole idea crumbles!

this is exactly what im doning right now...

iv turned 3 runners and 3 "spare" frames and far too many parts down to 1...well nearly.

after 8 years in the bike trade it leaves you a bit weighed down and fussy.

Five Pro with perforance pack - can do everything from all day xc excursions to black trail centre type stuff.

I will get a set of flats and 36 forks for the alps.

Something with swappable dropouts like the NS Surge or one of the DMRs with em would be best 🙂

If it had to be one much as it pains me I'd let the Ventana go and buy a 456 Ti

maybe have a couple of wheel sets to make it easy to swap to slicks etc 🙂

Just one bike I'll take a hardtail...currently my inbred!
(i've got another hardtail and I'm getting a road bike soon but the inbred is the one I'd keep!)
