Was going to order some as I got an email today and I need some. However do they still shrink? I'm a size 8 so if there's a good chance they'll shrink then I should probably order the larger size if not then I'll get the smaller size.

Mine haven’t shrunk but in my experience the soles wear out quite quickly.

They won't shrink as there's not that much Merino in them. About 30% IIRC

The amount of merino varies between the different styles, according to the description it seems to vary between 30% and 69% (although it wouldn't be the first time the descriptions on the Planet X site were wrong)

Ive not had any issues with shrinkage but I have noticed an increase in the soles wearing out (although I'm not sure if this is linked to me WFH and walking round in just socks all day rather than wearing shoes)

I agree, my most recent ones from sometime in the autumn, wore out through the heel and sole really fast. In about 4 weeks!
The ones before that lasted a couple of winters and were fantastic value.
Where are people buying decent thickish merino socks these days?

Dunno, mine must be 4+ years old and haven't worn out. The elastic is a bit less elastic than it used to be though.

Think they were the "thickie" version.

The old ones were great: the latest ones are awful. Holes in all of them within a few months. Not fit for purpose.

Thicky ones are my favourite socks and the last two production runs haven't shrunk. But as per the others they do wear sole holes quite quickly.

I bought some Alpkit ones from the Ambleside shop and they wore out really quickly whilst also being scratchy and uncomfortable. So definitely don't get those as an alternative!

They won’t shrink

Mine did, about 1/3rd every wash.

Alpkit make the comfiest and hardest wearing Merino and coolmax socks in my experience.

The socks feel great when you first put them on but they go thin on the soles or the Achilles heel. I've stopped buying them.

Have a couple of pairs from aldi that have been great, wish I'd bought a couple more pairs.

I've had some great ones from Aldi but others have worn pretty quick. Ordered an assortment from OO so will see what they're like.
