If Cav was good enough then he would have gone with one of the breaks.

WTF was Porter talking about 4th place?

Considering they'd been on the home straight for the last 25km, nothing should be a surprise...

Vino - Just about the worst possible result? Maybe Valverde could have been worse, possibly.

Serves cav right, he has done bugger all to deserve it

Real shame to see Vino winning. Unlike Windy, he was an unrepentant doper.

No it makes the Germans a laughing stock for not chipping in.....Greipel pretty much guaranteed a medal in a bunch sprint, but his team not prepared to work.

Right, that wasn't supposed to happen. Time to pack everything up and take our Games home.

And put that torch out it will driving the gas bill right up...

I actually quite like Vino, never shy to make an attack. Good on him.

If you ask me we lost it cos Cav couldn't follow the attacks on the final climb. Other teams knew this and attacked en masse, knowing that they could then hold a gap with lots of riders in a group. Can't believe that slimy cheating b*stard Vino won it though.

+1 On the terrible coverage. Shambolic. Hugh Porter hasn't got a clue, didn't even know the teams, let alone the riders.

So the peleton were happy to sacrifice their own chances in case they were beaten in the sprint if they helped GB get the break back,is that what happened? road racing is a strange one sometimes.

As a mate of mine said: Germany risked nothing, to gain nothing. They'd obviously rather win nothing that risk Cav winning it.

Doesn't show much faith in Greipel.

Stannard is a proper machine though.

I think they wanted team GB to chase it down knackering themselves out, so they could swamp them in the last 8k with a solid lead out for their sprinter. But by the time they realised GB weren't able to chase it down, it was too late. No radios.

Poor result, was surprised Team GB made no effort to get someone into one of the breakaways, the strategy of protect Cav at all costs only works if everyone else plays along

Cav a victim of his own success, as others said nobody willing to help GB get the breaks back as they're terrified of a Cavendish sprint finish.....left Vino to pull off a shock, strange sport sometimes.

Hmm, with the benifit of hindsight, having 4 Tour stage winners and the Tour winner, then sticking to one, well advertised, obvious as an obvious thing strategy just made life easier for every one else.

Poor show for Cancellara.

On idea why everyone on here seems to think cav should have been handed it on a plate, clearly he is not good enough to win gold, otherwise he would have.

I just hope that it doesn't affect wiggins chances on Wed.
