I did the corkscrew at the forest of Dean today and some bits were well b@stard steep!
Really had me twitching.
Watching some of the videos on YouTube, how can people go down that trail, that fast?
That said, I'm off for a glass of vino.
don't worry, you are not alone.when i did the erlestoke 12 hour event,i was getting off and walking bits (because i am rubbish/crap) that everyone else was flying down/up.
Just watched a couple of utube vids and it looks fun.
Hardly steep or difficult though...
Practice.
Oh dear. I honestly can't think of a single part of Corkscrew that could be classed as steep. Not meaning to be nasty or anything, but what/where do you usually ride?
That's not to say I don't want to go back soon for another go ๐
Stopadoodle,cranham,leckhampton or standish woods usually
It gets quite steep and rootier after the fire road! The youtube vids make it look shallower than it is.
always looks easier on the screen though eh?

I guess it's just the 'steepness' levels you're used to.
Have to say that the more really steep difficult stuff I do the higher my confidence levels go up.
I haven't done much of that lately until today though
There are sections at Lecky Hill that are as steep, surely? Saying that, I've only been there once, in atrocious weather, a year ago.
I need to get up lecky again soon!
Steep is relative, as is difficult.
