Strava? ย I heard tell of it. ย Currently trying to get back into some shape after 2 years off cycling, and many years since 100ks were a common ride, so looking into (economical) options but not sure which way to go. ย I use MyFitnessPal (free version) ย to log diet and exercise, but you have to enter journal activities manually and they only have a field for time spent on the activity, not a cycling specific one with distance, time, calories burned etc etc. ย Have used basic wireless cycle computer in the past but that died recently.
Have an iphone so that would seem a sensible first call? ย Anyone have experience of MapMyRide app? That seems to plug in to MFP...
I use ridewithgps very stable but using android - free version is fine - have a premium sub' but think that is just to allow more edit stuff when route planning
for gym sessions, swimming etc I just enter them as a ride and title as Gym etc and then write in comments so can see on the diary sheet how active been - but main reason for using is recording distance ridden and I like taking pics along the way - more like a diary
if want to record HR use sportstracker and just do a screen shot at end of stats / graphs and put as a photo in ridewithgps
heard tell of strava but suspect that with the competitive element it encourages it won't catch on ๐
Strava linked to MFP,ย works quitq well, log your ride, run or walk with strava and it pushes the calorcal burned figure straight to MFP whicj will then adjust your daily allowances...
It's more accuaccu than just pockopi an activity from MFPs generic list...ย
Strava, just does what you want really, if your doing it for fitness then get a proper HRM to get the most out of it.
Records static sessions if you have the wheel sensors on a GPS unit type thing enabled etc. too
I use mapmyride and MFP, they're both owned by Under armour so they integrate quite nicely I think.ย ย Give it a go, it's free!
