Just stumbled across the Vitus Rapide CR 29er hardtail. £1699, seems like a really good price.
GX Eagle, carbon frame, light, Reba's, THREADED BB and "trail"ish head angle...
Looking for something to sit alongside my Genesis Tarn, which is my proper rocky mountain bike.
Anyone got one/tried one?
Yes I have one - the 2016 (Reba,XT) with upgraded American Classic Race Wheels. Its essentially my XCO race bike.
Personally I find it very good. Assuming your frame is the same, its remarkably comfortable, handles amazingly and is suprisingly capable part due to the head angle. I like it so much I used it Geo/fit to model a replacement FS which turned out to be a Scott Spark RC. I have one flaw in mine which is a slight “ripple” in the top tube visible at a certain angle in the light. I sent it back to CRC for inspection who confirmed it was OK and also provided additional support in writing that they would continue to honour the 5 year warrantly should the frame fail at that point. Seems though its just some uneven laquer. Not noticible from 2 feet away. Needless to say its been ridden and raced for a whole season from 1 to 6 hours at a time with no issues.
Great bike, fast and excellent handling and feels as though it has a bit more than the 100mm fork. Looks even better in the flesh btw, the down tube is enormous.
Thanks for that! I'd be using it for Old School xc riding, not racing as such. Tarmac, tracks and trails. I do a few ITT's and the Tarn's just too heavy 😉
Not sure about the Tarmac but its an awesome bike in the single track.
I've got the 2015 version. I've used it for xc races, 30 mile plus Wiggle & Evans events and general singletrack duties. It's very quick, eats up the miles but more importantly it's comfortable. I did have a cracked seat tube but CRC supplied a new frame in about 10 days without any argument (they did offer to take it back and do the swap in their workshop but it was just easier for me to do it here).
i did fit a shorter stem but later models may not need that.
