Hi there,

Possibly have a weekend shift coming up on Sunday in Shap. Thought I might head up saturday and get a ride in before dark. So if I park at haweswater, head up nan bield pass, down to kentmere, across to Sadgill, back up and over Gatesgarth pas and down to the car park by haweswater, how long will it take? looms to be 20ish km - do-able in 2hrs?

I wont get started untill about 2pm, so dont want to get caught out!

Cheers

Looking at my pics it was 1h20 from Haweswater to Nan Bield col and 1h40 from Sadgill to Haweswater. Reckon at about 45 minutes from Nan Bield to Sadgill

Highly unlikely.
Nan Bield Pass from Haweswater to Kentmere is the best part of 2hrs on it's own. Add in the total bastard of a climb over Gatescarth and you'll be looking at about 4hrs in total. Budget on 5 to be on the safe side.

That's not a joke.

Hey that looks good Simon, don't know the lakes (as you may have guessed!) - what route is the 'Calf lite'.

Cheers

Calf is Howgills, not Lakes but its still a good ride. Click on the pic above and there's a link to the route map:

Latest local weather forecast for Saturday is not good. Setting out at 2PM might give you a "challenge".
