Oh yeah, first time fitment of proper mudguards is a royal PITA. Worth the effort, (or possibly cost of getting the LBS to do it) for the benefit though. Subsequent removal and refitment is a much easier prospect. I've found Zefal ones to be as good as SKS in the past, just depends what you can get for a reasonable price.

My sks ones fit fine over 37mm vittoria voyager.
It’s a 40mm one.
No bodging necessary.
Got from Decathlon for £12 in a sale ages ago.

Yes, needed to drill new holes in guard to reposition the main top of fork and BB mount positions.

Trimming stay legth was a bit of a faff, used a cutting disc in a grinder for that once I had set them at the right length.

Bodge needed to keep the front left stay clear of the cable pull on the brake. Also needed to bodge a longer threaded bar through the top of the fork as the supplied bolt wasn't quite long enough.

All in all a bit of a faff, but once set up they are great.
£23 from CRC+a couple of hours of fiddling Vs RRP and a bit of workshop time at LBS.

Can send photos if you want.
