Looking at buying a mini USB projector to show clients their portraits in a slightly more impressive way than on my laptop.

Found
this one on ebay at £120. Are these things any cop? Should I just splash out for a 'proper' one?

I want a USB toaster.

Or a toaster that can be generated from the rear wheel of my bike. Mmmm Toast on the highest trig point :-)))))))))

Cant see it being very bright, that's the only issue I see. 500mA max draw from USB? 13 Lumen?

500mA at 5v is a lot more than 13lumen!

Cree Q5 LED 240lumen ~3.5W

So scaeling that you'd get arround 170lumen (assuming no other used, obviously the LC will use soem power). But then you can just plug into two USB sockets and get more power.

Not according to it's spec sheet, it says 13 lumen.

Doesnt quite work that way, USB is generically 100mA, you have to negotiate with the host to provide 500 to one port per hub. You'd need a PC with two root hubs and two driver IC's within your projector to do two negotiations, one "correct" one and one "dummy" one just to get an extra lump of amps.

In that case it'll be crap, that's the equivalent of a 0.5W halogen bulb

Hmmmm - so the general feeling is don't bother? I'm aware these things have to be used in a dark room, but hoped that might ramp up the atmos a notch or two!
