£450 and £499 respectively.. Whaddya reckon? Both maxle or equivalent.
You know the Rev's will work out of the box but the 55's this year are still an unknown quantity as they've not been out long enough to see if Marz have cured the reliability issues they had in 2008/9
Buy the Rev's
aren't these forks aimed at different things, 44 = revelation, 55 = lyrik?
I believe that Marz have sorted themselves out they give a 3 year warranty and I have heard good things about them
I've had both, and still have the 55's.
My rev's weeped oil big style - a common fault on 09 forks according to my LBS. The 55's sank in their travel, 1st time they saw it happen on the 09 models according to windwave, and were replaced no problems under warranty.
The Rev's fault was a seal/O ring done under warranty. They were lighter than the 55's but felt more flexible. HoratioHufnagel is correct - the 55's have a 35mm stanchion and are as stiff as Fox 36's, whereas the rev's are 32mm, more akin to the 44.
Not a huge amount to choose between them performance wise, with the 55 just pipping it for me based on them being less "divey". The warranty issue isn't so huge with marz' being 3 year and RS being 2.
I've got some Mazzis, been sent back to Windwave to be warrantied and it only took them 10wks to send me a new set.
I've not got a problem with them they work fine but I'd rather have a set of Foxs' I found the set up a PITA compared to Fox. I don't like the look of the Revs the finishing looks shoddy but that wouldn't stop me riding them.
Please dont spend £450 on a set of 55's. You'll sell them after a month or two for circa £170 on here with 'receipt/"just serviced"'.
Seriously. Buy Rev's- tried and tested.
If you have £500 to spend why not contact Si at progressive-bikes to see what he could do for you Fox-wise?
Seriously, please don't waste your riding time with poor forks. I've been there.
Hora, sorry mate but what are you talking about:
Just not with the same fork/manufacturer now. I'm sick of Rockshox's
I USED TO BE a somewhat Rockshox whore.
Why would you encourage someone to buy a product that you're so critical of elsewhere?
Joxster, I'm amazed its taken that long I got my replacements back within the week.
Thats just it. I would take even a Rockshox over Marzocchi 55.
Had to send my Revelations back twice to Fisher's for warranty issues - in the end, got a full refund.
Wouldn't be so bad I suppose but the Boxxer World Cups I had also went back to Fishers for warranty work and were still awful afterwards.
After years of liking Rock Shox I would look elsewhere now.
Marzocchi are well worth a punt now as they appear to have solved all their manufacturing problems - and with the 3 year warranty that beats any other fork manufacturer. They must be pretty confident to have solved all problems by offering that.
digger could you email me? No mail in your profile.
I've had 55's for 18months no problems
I went for the Revs. Wasn't really much in it for me - the 55s were half a lb heavier.. the Revs are still 4lbs 6oz on the scales though which is a fair bit lardier than I was expecting.. I can just about deal with that tho 🙂
The 55s were tempting - all the horror stories I read were for 08 forks, these were 09s. But I have 66s on the Patriot, and I was a bit concerned that the 5 would end up being even more like the Patriot..
This is how your experience with the 55 might end up...

I had some 55's. Costs me £120+ to get them repaired then sold them for not much more. Bought some 426's, far better imo & lighter!
