As I'm back in Edinburgh for a few days I decided to head up into the Pentlands for a night ride for the first time in years. Unfortunately my old Magicshine's battery is now knackered so had to rely on a little Lezyne helmet night plus my even more venerable Lumicycle lights. Still good fun though!

So what's the best option as a modern replacement for my old Magicshine? Say sub £100?

Just a little over your budget at £105 the MTB Batteries Lumentaor 17 is worth a look: http://www.mtbbatteries.co.uk/mountain-bike-lights/lumenator-17/

Is the Ituo Wiz20 the current fave for value in terms of self contained unit?
I have lots of spare batteries and charger, so this sounds ideal.

Turns out you can get what appears to be the same light from Amazon for £19.99 - came with mountings to use as a head-torch and what appears to be a better better battery connection (which is what failed on the last one) and charger as well. Also got a spare battery from Amazon for £11.98 and that works with the old lamp as well.

Happy with that as I don't need any more power than the old light had anyway.
