took wheel off bike yesterday to give cassette a clean when i went for a ride 2day ive found on up and down shifting its going from 1st to 3rd and vice versa tryed adjusting the cable on the bars anything else i can try

invent a time machine, go back in time to just before you took the cassette off and warn yourself not to.

Is there a spacer behind the cassette that you not put back on?

no its all fitted correct taken it off many times
