Considering going over to lock on grips as my clamps aren't split / hinged and I want to try a bit if fiddling.

Currently use some nice thick spesh grips, most of the lock on grips i've seen are quite thin and hard. I want something that is primarily squidgy rubber and thick rather than thin for comfort.

What would people recommend?

Are the sort of thing I'm looking for. Any other suggestions?

DMR Deathgrip. They are very good, been through Spesh/Odi/Ergon. DMR's are grippy, soft and thick.

They are my goto grips for big hands. I wish they had a flange though like deathgrips as I always wear a hole in my gloves & thumb on the inner lockring. Deathgrips dont have as much cushion after trying them over the past year.

I was going to suggest the Deathgrip too, not had any issues with twisting like on some single clamp lock on grips. If you look around you can get the "Race" compound in the thick grip. ODI do quite a few good options too.

Just bought some Uberbike XL, they're bloody massive. Probably too big. Might have to swap to something thinner for winter and wearing gloves.

Excellent, thanks.

One final thing, are any of these open ended, as I still run bar ends!

*EDIT* looks like the ODI ones are, but I can't tell if the DMR ones are or not?

Lizard Skins Chargers should fit the bill.  Like an old skool mushroom grip.  I have them on all my bikes.

Uberbike are ODI half waffle rip-offs.

I've been meaning to try their clamps with some odi grip's I've had spare but lost the little screws.

I’ve got some Nukeproof Sam Hill grips and they’re really fat and grippy. I’m on the fence about whether too big but they cost quite a lot so giving them a good go. I did come from Raceface Half Nelsons thought which were really thin.

Deathgrips are good, had a set before.  Wear through quickly on the ends, I found.  Ergon GE1 Evo Factory currently on mine and I'll have another set when needed in a heartbeat.  They're fab.

EDIT : No, not open ended, so no bar ends...

i hate outer clamps so while ODI rogues are great i cant use them. DMR's are OK. My fave are Bontrager RL's (thick) which are basically a Rogue copy without the outer clamp. But theyve stopped makign them... bastards.

Oury here - pretty big diameter, soft, grippy and open at the end(s)

I’ve got Oury and the ones linked to by op. Very similar, squishy and comfy for me with fairly big hands.

I've found  https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/BTOOFLOG/on-one-half-bob-lock-on-foam-grips pretty good over the last 2(?) years, nice spongy feel that doesn't get slippery in the wet.

Might throw a pair of  https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/BTBPAL/bike-smart-palmer-grip---bar-end in a future order, depending upon the PX price see-saw at the time, as a way of getting bar ends with my carbon Knuckleball bars.
