yep buff for me too! Used to use a very thin beany, but buffs (or at least the Oxford knock-offs I get from TK Maxx) are a hell of a lot cheaper!
gorewindstopper balaclava for really cold
cannondale fleecey one for mildly cold
buff for sunny days keeping sweat out my eyes.
Endura BaaBaa merino skull hat. Fits under your lid and little flaps for your ears. Toasty!
A big furry hat will be way too hot if you intend putting any effort in
buff or a motorbike balaclava thang when it gets really cold.
Headband under helmet to keep ears and forehead warm is all I've ever needed

Castelli peaked winter cap and if it's very cold a gore headband, don't bother with a lid for commuting
buff or a sugoi balaclava depending on how miserable the weather is
Altura headband if its cool, plus the DMR beanie that comes free with mags every now and then if its chuffing freezing.
Under a lid obvs.
I use a buff till its well cold, then use a thin smartwool merino beanie. Or I did till I lent it to the Mrs and she LOST IT 🙁
Underarmour balaclava for me when it's seriously cold. It's nice and thin so can still use the lid over it.
Dhb balaclava under my helmet. Perfect when it's below zero.

Not yet but why not don one yourself. Ensure you make mooing and grunting noises to add to the weirdness and who knows - this time next year we'll all be wearing one...

A Buff is enough for me- also I couldn't get much else under my lid without it perching on top of my big head like a hat from a Christmas cracker!

I've got one of these and it's ace, but I can't imagine when I'd want to wear it on the bike. I do live in the Midlands though.
But round here you see some folk riding wrapped up in stuff that I reckon would make me melt if I was riding at the North Pole.

Endura thermolite, sometimes merino possum hat under helmet. Did once have an icicle hanging off hair formed of sweat.

Buff. Usually does me. I've also got a thin beanie that I sometimes wear but usually the Buff does the trick.
Buff - keeps the chill off without overheating. For me, if it's colder than about -4C I wish I'd got something a bit warmer as get a frozen head on long down hill sections on my commute!
as a man I don't require such stuff, I just turn the climate control up......
10 years of dreadlocks and it isn't an issue.
cycling skull cap - made of thin black fleecy lined material - cost about £2 from Sainsburys, works really well under my helmet - usually have to take it off after about half an hour because i'm roasting!
Polaris Cranium. Funny thing is, it's been cold since the day it arrived. I also have a merino beanie, but the Cranium is a better fit and covers the ears completely. Doesn't overheat either.
Tried a buff, but fed up with the dangly bits 😉

I used a beanie under my lid this morning.. Nice and toastie!
Normal day: Singletrack Buff
Cold day: Merino Buff
Colder Day: Merino Buff doubled over (it's quite long)
Freezing Day (like the -5°C today): Endura BaaBaa Merino skull cap + Merino Buff around neck and pulled up over my mouth and nose.
All those options could fit under a helmet, if I wore one on the commute.
Troy Lee D2 was pretty warm in -3 today!
