[Closed] Is there a frame that a tall person sits in rather than on ?

My mates who are 5'8" ish all sit 'in' their frames. Their bikes are easy to set up and it all looks 'right'.

I'm told I look like a gorilla on a moulton. Not really 'right', shall we say.

Last week I attempted to get the handlebars up to seat height by using a steerer extension, but that results in very strange handling.

Ideas, please !

29er. It's definitely the way ahead for tall blokes.

I'm 6'4" and have finally found bikes that I fit properly and they're 29ers.

Doesn't really matter how it looks, as long as it rides fine.

Dear god, did I really just say that?

I'm going to go have a quiet word with myself.

Also, 29er?

29er? Bars are lower than the saddle on most bikes anyway. I'd definitely be better suited to a 29er at 6ft 1 but i'm all legs, so my bike looks like a complete gate anyway.

My bike, but now has a shorter lower stem and wider bars so the front end is a bit lower than pictured.

just to add, i have a xl singular, fitted with 120mm reba's, which are probably too long, untill the trail goes downhill.
then i sit back in the saddle, and it feels like a long travel hardtail.

Any 29er ?

Some of them look like they've been 'squashed' to give a similar sizing to a 26.

Needs to be able to be ridden down the Pleney (although not the precipice or the ten percenter) but up the Col de Cou.

My local Ed Cycles has a new Spesh Camber 29er and it sort of looks right.
At 6ft2 i'd see myself on such a machine in future.

29er sounds about right, I've just built my first 29er and I must say it's a revelation,

my singular is similar to this one, but the forks are a tad longer, hence a more sat up position.

You might want to start here.......

At correct leg extension, I doubt very much that you'll get the bars near the seat if you have long legs. If you do, you will mess up the handling of the bike.

Get a dropper post. I got one recently and it is brilliant as I have a 35" inside leg and my saddle is stupidly high for climbs.

the most sat in frame I've experienced is a Cube Stereo (or presumably the shorter travel Sting).

I once had a go on Singletrackmind's proflex and my knees were higher than the bars, now that was odd.

Don't worry about what you look like, who cares, that isn't why you ride a bike surely! Just think about how the bike is to ride. I'm just under 6'5" and ride a large Trance, it is about an inch too short in the top tube but the XL was like climbing over a gate. I wouldn't mind trying a 29er but I don't feel any need to ride one over a 26er based on my height.

One of my mates had an inch or two removed from his legs (knee problems and was probably only a couple of mm if he wasn't using it as an excuse for being short ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). There are other options out there to get a bike that fits you!

If you're worried about how you look on a bike it may be the only option ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜†
