what would it be?

I think a want a mash up of my two bikes:

2014 Mega TR - like the bike, but its just not quite right.ย  Feel as if I'm perched on top of it but its plenty of bike for riding abilty.

Mk 1 Solaris - just seems to fit better, perfer riding it.ย  I like the big wheels and it feels like a big BMX, just wish it had rear suspension.

I'm not experienced enough in the ways of bikes to know what a child of these two would be, but i wonder if it would be more than the sum of these two?

What bike best fits what i am trying and failing to describe?

cheers,

paul

Transition Scout would seem like a good offspring. Sorry travel, burly ripper.

It is, yeah. So in that case, Smuggler ๐Ÿ˜€

My mate's Jeffsey kinda has this feeling as well. Genuinely Good Times. Bit longer on the travel front though.

I was thinking Smuggler. Not the lightest (but then you have a mega!) but a great playful bike that you definitely feel more 'in' than on. I had a Mega TR - last of the 26s - and a Mk1 solaris. I ended up with a Mk3 solaris and a Smuggler....

Flare Max set up with 29 wheels would seem to be the obvious choice.

Sounds like you're looking for a short travel FS bike with a longer fork upfront..

FlareMax with 130-140mm fork for FS, or new LS SolarisMax (love mine).

I have been thinking about this for a while and I knew i shouldnt have askedย  - i now expect to have a big whole in my wallet soon.

in order to try and keep the outgoings down - thinking of smuggler frame only, which leads to further questions:

i have hope tech enduro 4's on my solaris - can the rear be converted to boost?

can i re-cycle my x-fusion slants? Im sure they can be set to 140mm

can anyone confirm please?

thanks

edit - looks like rear wheel can be converted

For the price of a new Smuggler frame, you could get a whole pre-loved example. There's one in the classifieds ๐Ÿ˜‰

I used the WolfTooth 'Boostinator' for my Hope Pro 4 last year. Didn't bother re-dishing the wheel although I think that was recommended. Obviously the front is just different spacers.
