you have to go and see Anish Kapoor's C Curve. OS map 198 302111. I took a detour on the way home tonight to see the nearby Chattri War Memorial which I've often seen from a distance but never been to. It's a memorial to the Indian troops who died in WW1. Between 1914 and 1918 12,000 thousand wounded Indian troops were treated in Brighton and the Hindu and Sikh troops who died in the hospitals were cremated on this spot before their ashes were scattered at sea. I thought it quite apt to finally see it in a week where the disgraceful treatment of the Ghurkas is receiving a great deal of publicity.
Anyway as I got close I saw this piece by Anish Kapoor which is part of the Brighton Festival. I had no idea it was there and I was stopped in my tracks. It really is stunning. I won't try describing it, you can find plenty of info and photos on the web but to actually ride in circles around it was wonderful, put a big grin on my face.
Looks very cool.
