Make me feel better please.

I've just bought another bike for £40 as a shopping bike which now takes my tally upto 4 bikes which are 2 hardtails, my first ever mountain bike from 1989, and now this rigid mountain as a shopper.

Running out of space as I've no garage 😳

4 for me, 7 in a house of 2 people though
I have 1 play bike (full sus), 1 trail bike (full sus), my PA (hardtail, gets a lot of abuse) and a road bike.
GF has a full sus, hardtail and road bike.
I would say that 4 is fine.
I could find a gap for a couple more bikes, however death would result

Isn't the equation for the ideal number of bikes read as x+1, where x equals the current number of bikes owned? 🙂

5.5 for me. Hardtail awaiting groupset to be trail worthy, short-travel FS, steel framed fast-tourer, cross bike and CAAD8 racer. Too many good 2nd hand deals out there 🙄

EDIT - that equation can also be read as S -1, where S is the number of bikes it'd take for your missus to show you the door..

3 road bikes (one winter, one summer, one that lives in spain for holiday use), a pompetamine for commuting, a hardtail, a hybrid I never use and two wrecks that really need to be binned because there's nothing salvageable left on them.

My OH has a similar number. And I've currently got my nephew's new islabike in the front room because he's only getting it for his birthday at the end of the month.

If it's cheap enough to leave in the back garden instead of in the shed then it doesn't really count. Using this rule I have 2 bikes.

Big bouncy bike

Arkose commuter/shopper/this weather bike. (Technically this one belongs to my employers though).
I've got 2 of my old road frames in the loft, a 1973 Ellis Briggs and a 1976 Columbia GB I don't think they'll ever see the light of day again though. Oh and an even older Bob Jackson with track drop-outs.
Edit. And my old Soul frame's in the loft, too.

4 and a half. Bad enough, but even worse I guess when they are all so similar.

Rigid singlespeed Lee Cooper. Slick-shod 'urban' MTB.
DMR Trailstar with 80mm forks. Currently indoors on the turbo.
Identiti Mr Hyde with 100mm forks. My 'spare' or 'backup' HT.
Cotic BFe with 150mm forks. Main do-it-all bike (AM in marketing speak I guess).

And the 'half' is an old Peugeot MTB frame and a pile of parts that are due to be turned into an MTB/cruiser hybrid pub bike.
