Make me feel better please.
I've just bought another bike for £40 as a shopping bike which now takes my tally upto 4 bikes which are 2 hardtails, my first ever mountain bike from 1989, and now this rigid mountain as a shopper.
Running out of space as I've no garage 😳
1 x Road Bike;
1 x Singlespeed everything bike; and
1 x Full Sus MTB.
one.
a on one 29r set up in touring mode. so so ugly.
Bouncy toy,
Hardtail,
Crosser/commuter.
8
4 for me, 7 in a house of 2 people though
I have 1 play bike (full sus), 1 trail bike (full sus), my PA (hardtail, gets a lot of abuse) and a road bike.
GF has a full sus, hardtail and road bike.
I would say that 4 is fine.
I could find a gap for a couple more bikes, however death would result
4
Single speed HT
Big FS
Road
Plans for 1 maybe 2 more 😕
Too many, but really want another 😕
11 complete in the garage.
5 of them mrs trs though but inhave to maintain them all haha
And im desperate to build another fatty - have most of the parts but m not allowed the frame till ive finished plastering and painting the hall
1 hardtail 1 full 1 road and 1 tourer. A drz 400 and a cbr600
Commuter
Decoy BMX
Road bike

Hardtail
Rigid
Plus, er, 5 other frames ziptied to the garage roof, really must sell those!
cross bike
carbon road bike
Full sus MTB
Winter steel bike
another cross frame to build into single speed commuter
Want a 29er hard tail too
Too many?
6, and enough parts to make another. But still not enough.
Isn't the equation for the ideal number of bikes read as x+1, where x equals the current number of bikes owned? 🙂
5.5 for me. Hardtail awaiting groupset to be trail worthy, short-travel FS, steel framed fast-tourer, cross bike and CAAD8 racer. Too many good 2nd hand deals out there 🙄
EDIT - that equation can also be read as S -1, where S is the number of bikes it'd take for your missus to show you the door..
1 without engine, 2 with
3 road bikes (one winter, one summer, one that lives in spain for holiday use), a pompetamine for commuting, a hardtail, a hybrid I never use and two wrecks that really need to be binned because there's nothing salvageable left on them.
My OH has a similar number. And I've currently got my nephew's new islabike in the front room because he's only getting it for his birthday at the end of the month.
2
650b 150mm full susser and a 29er Hardtail
Less than I need, short of a Crosser and a TT bike
I stupidly gave my favourite bike to my brother in law so I'm now just down to.
Commuter
150mm full sus
Roadie
Jump bike (in bits)
If it's cheap enough to leave in the back garden instead of in the shed then it doesn't really count. Using this rule I have 2 bikes.
4
Big bouncy bike
XC 'race' bike
Long travel hardtail
Road bike
The big bouncer and hard tail never ever get used however, they just sit in my Kitchen (no garage) cluttering the place up
1 and a bit for me..
a 'do anything' full sus and a project HT currently consisting of frame, wheels, stem, bars, grips and the 1 x 9 front shifter. Gonna need to get a few more bits to finish that one off..
5 1/2 bikes:
2 x Hardtails (1 x Carbon/Geared + 1 x Steel/Rigid/Single-Speed)
2x Road Bikes ( 1x Geared + 1 Single-Speed)

SS road bike
And my old 94 Univega currently in bits though.

Back up to six
Trail HT

DJ MTB (just built up)
Road bike
BMX
All built up mostly out of 2nd hand bits apart from the BMX...
A 140mm fs, a rigid 29er, and a 26" hard tail in bits.
Want a bmx/dj bike for messing about in the garden with the kids though....
1 HT 26er,1 FS 29er, 1 HT SS 26er and a road bike. Probably about another 2 bikes worth in bits and bobs lying about.

nicolaisam650b 150mm full susser and a 29er Hardtail
The perfect combo.
4 or 6 are mine, depending on how I count
1 ss mtb
1 ht
1 ss commuter
1 old steel road bike
All cheaply built by me
Plus my 89 clockwork and vitus 979 that I hardly ever ride so don't count
Hardtail, 160mm full suss, DH bike, and a commuter
About to get the 10th bike in the house soon - but to be fair only 3 are mine and two of the others are up for sale
Mine are;
Orange evo
On-one inbred 29er
And coming soon Genesis Croix de fer
Just wish I had more room!
Two built and used. Two (new) in bits, one ready to build, one waiting for wheels and a saddle.

PA
OCR road bike
Arkose commuter/shopper/this weather bike. (Technically this one belongs to my employers though).
I've got 2 of my old road frames in the loft, a 1973 Ellis Briggs and a 1976 Columbia GB I don't think they'll ever see the light of day again though. Oh and an even older Bob Jackson with track drop-outs.
Edit. And my old Soul frame's in the loft, too.
MTB hardtail

4 and a half. Bad enough, but even worse I guess when they are all so similar.
Rigid singlespeed Lee Cooper. Slick-shod 'urban' MTB.
DMR Trailstar with 80mm forks. Currently indoors on the turbo.
Identiti Mr Hyde with 100mm forks. My 'spare' or 'backup' HT.
Cotic BFe with 150mm forks. Main do-it-all bike (AM in marketing speak I guess).
And the 'half' is an old Peugeot MTB frame and a pile of parts that are due to be turned into an MTB/cruiser hybrid pub bike.

1 x big bike.
1 x little bike.
1 cotic soda with two wheel sets (flows and crests) depending where I'm riding. . A bike for racing, general trail riding, epic rides and trail centres!
