Hoses into GRX levers: heck am I going wrong?

I have GRX810 levers, and 'Zee SM-BH90' hose kit.

I'm following the instructions to the letter: barb in, then olive, then flare nut.

Can I get the nut to tighten down and hold the hose? No, I can't. I thought I was there, but as soon as I started to bleed the system, fluid immediately pissed out from around the connection and flare nut.

I'm beginning to wonder if I have the correct hose kit?

Anyone any experience installing GRX brakes able to offer any advice or insight?

(I'm using RX4 calipers, and the connections at that end went like a dream.)

Does your flange bolt look like this?

Well I'd start by getting one of those first 🙂

Part # Y8RD02000

(if you buy the levers separately they don't come with one)

Come to think of it - my flange nut seems to have no flange.

Yes, but as you've already got a hose just buy the flange nut

Yeah, I knew I'd done something stupid here.

Thanks for the quick answer. 🙂

I've just fitted GRX810 levers. The reservoir/bleed screw is larger than the old 5800 levers I removed, you'll need a different bleed kit. I got one from Epic Bleed Solutions that has an adaptor that fits both. I also got litre of mineral from halfrods. Used about 30% of it.
They are a pia to bleed. Saying that, the Ultegra caliper was fine but the new Grx810 caliper took work. Good luck

Also check that the levers don’t already have olives in behind the nut. My ultegra levers did, and I nearly ruined them by trying to screw another in there.

(These were part of a groupset from Merlin - I’m guessing OEM)

I've just bled some GRX 600 and realised this.

Got a £4 adapter off Amazon, so it takes the normal bleed funnel.

Shimano decided a new M9 fitting with a flange would be better than the M8 on previous shimano brakes
