I can't seem to find the specs for a Hope Pro II Single Speed / Trials rear hub. It is 36 hole, and I want to get it built up on a Mavic EX 721 (26 inch) rim, 3 cross pattern. Does anyone know what spoke length I will need?

Also, are DT Swiss Alpine III the strongest? Looking at either those or the Competition version.

Thanks.

I'd use 256mm spokes, 12mm nipples both sides, I don't give advice on spokes though, that's personal choice ๐Ÿ˜‰

I used to build wheels for a living so I have a bit of a database. I've also built a similar wheel for myself before ๐Ÿ˜‰

Excellent, thanks for the info. What would you say about the DT spokes? Are Alpine III the strongest?

I thought that DT Alpine were the strongest. They are the heaviest and butted so you'd expect that more material and a butting process would make them the strongest.

Why the need for something so strong. Not sure if this helps but I always ran my DH wheels with regular DT Swiss Competition and at the time I was well over 17 stone. I never had any issues with them on any course.

If I have a choice I'd rather go with the stronger ones. The wheel will be going on a Dirt Jumping / street bike (Black Market Mob) and I'm a beginner when it comes to that sort of riding, so I expect lots of crashes and want the wheel to hold up. Plus I'm big and heavy.
