I have rode my bike for the last 18months no problem, a week ago the crank arm, the opposite side of the drive worked its way loose, anyway to cut a long story short, I have bought a new xt one and this came off first ride, went out yesterday got home and that has started to come loose again, on close inspection it is still tight on the spline, but there is movemnet if you grab the drive pedal and other and move them from left to right, there is also a gap that wasnt there between the bottom bracket and the crank arm, i have checked bottom bracket, which is only 6 months old and feels fine, any ideas would be much appreciated

Is this a square taper bb? Had problems with this myself many years ago, could be either the bb taper is ****ed or the thread on the inside , maybe a bit of loctite to hold the bolt in place or a new bb am afraid.

have you put the little plastic bit in the end of the axle?

maybe the thread in the axle is gone or the plastic bit?
