Iv'e got a 2009 Specialized Fsr Xc Pro and would like to fit a bash guard to it, can anyone recommend one to me,or advise me on what size i need?. My big ring is 44 tooth....do i remove this and fit the bash ring in its place?.....or does it fit over the big ring?, im'e confused! 😕
You can do both. Normal is to replace the large ring with a bash leaving you with 2 front rings. If doing this you may want to increase the size of the middle ring to 34t or 36t to make up for some of the gear ratios lost by removing the large ring. You can also get bash guards (from Blackspire for example) which would cover the existing 44t leaving you with the existing gear range. These fit on the outside of the big ring.
