[Closed] Help needed for rebuild of Kona dawg rear end

As above, need advice on parts for the rear assembly on my Dawg. The top and bottom rear stays interlock above the mech hanger/ rear brake clamp.
I have the sections together with the small sleeve in place BUT there seems to be a little play laterally (even when the bolt is in place).

Does anyone have a pic or diagram of this area or info on any other parts that I may be missing (washers, rubbers etc). I did get in touch with Kona mechanics but they unbelievably do not have any diagrams or photos of this area.

Thanks in advance, Gav

If it's anything like the more cross country kona full suss bikes the pivot has a short aluminium tube which sits inside 2 black nylon top hat bushings which press fit into either side of the chainstay. These wear out fairly quickly but are quite easy to pop out and replace.

Like this

If not then ignore me!

Top hats top and bottom of seat stay. I use a bolt to press them back in rather than trying to tap in with hammer/mallet, they are brittle and easily broken. Also check that the bolt threads have not flattened. I found the originals were fully threaded bolts and the threads tend to flatten and the bolts bend!! Replaced fully threaded bolts with shouldered bolts.

The top hats are in 2 pieces and knock out from each side, the little tube goes through that and the bolt passes through the tube. If the threads on the bolt are flattened you get play between it and the tube

Also check shock bushes, top ones tend to wear faster than bottom one.
I have fitted one of these; http://www.tftunedshox.com/info/mount_kits_bushings.aspx

Wearing out the top hats sounds about right as all my other parts are there and have been re fixed. I have the sleeve in place but just need to find these top hat bushes now.

Thanks very much for the help folks, really appreciate it. Oh and the powdercoat is orange. Primo 8)

OK ST peeps, phoned the guy at KaTec and he was very helpful. So all sorted.

Just so you know the dawg primo was the blue one (2006/7 I think) but I took it all apart and got it powder coated orange (no I dont have an Audi).
Took a little care and effort but did a little painting on running gear etc and got spank rims (in orange of course) and laced them up to black hope hubs with black spokes. Hoping the final effect of orange/black is as good as in my head.

Thanks again to all for the great info and links, was very helpful.

Aye, just need to see the list of kits. I sent my frame number to Kona to find the correct kit. Mine has top hats at the top of the seat stay, others have bearings. All the kits I got from lbs did not have the top hats!

Glad your sorted and enjoy the ride. Will be getting mine out for the summer ๐Ÿ˜€
